About Web/Media Design
You see web/media design all around us, like this website, the design on your textbook, or that brochure to the big conference!
In reality design is a very useful thing that is needed almost everywhere, I do web design, graphic design, image editing, and video editing. Here I’ll tell you a little about what each of these are in a little more detail. If you’re interested and have some free time (and of course you don’t already know this), read on!

Web development is the process of getting a site up and running, and involves EVERYTHING that needs to be done to get it up there.
A big part of web development is web design. This is the process of designing the template or layout, which is what the site looks like! Once you’re familiar with making websites, the design part is probably going to be the most annoying part. (excluding the backend coding stuff)
If you ask me to make a website for you, I will first set up a hosting server for you, which will provide that “space” where you put all your pages, and a domain, which is the url address. I will then design and code a template or layout according to what you want your site to look like using html.
The browser reads the html input and then translates that to visual commands, and shows you the website. Of course there are many backend things that can happen while feeding the html to the browser, it’s not always just the browser reading one page of html.

Graphic design is the art of designing an image either from scratch (like a logo), or using other stock photos to create something like a poster.
Image editing is modifying a given image, you can add things to it, but the central theme is still the original picture. De-aging and putting someone at another location (by changing the background) are good examples.

Video editing is just like it sounds, you edit videos. This includes either cutting or pasting videos together, making special effects, adding music to the background, adding subtitles, creating an opening title, and other similar tasks. Usually a video file needs to be edited before it’s presented.
Video editing usually also ties in with audio editing.
